    The HD-A35 offers 5.1 channel analog output and High Bit Rate Audio (up to 7.1 channel) via HDMI. With content encoded in 7.1ch, this advanced surround sound is achieved through the HDMI connection bypassing the player's internal audio processor and sending the signal to a 7.1 capable A/V receiver. High Bit Rate Audio will allow the consumer to integrate the HD-A35 with the latest multi-channel A/V receivers and enjoy a whole new dimension of high definition home entertainment.     This player rocks! It's an excellent HD DVD player and it also doubles as an upconverting DVD player. I have it paired up with my Sony A3000 tv and Onkyo 605 receiver so I'm taking advantage of this player's ability to output 1080/24p video (for smoother picture) and uncompressed HD audio (through HDMI). I agree with the previous reviewer that Toshiba should advertise the HD audio more for this player.The negative that I've experienced so far is the slow load time (but that's expected from most of these HD/Blu-ray players). It's also a little slow responding to your remote control commands. It's a little annoying but definitely shouldn't stop you from buying this player.[...]

    This is a 3rd generation player, and it appears all the previous problems have been solved. In my opinion the fun a person will have with this player far out weighs who wins the format war. The improvements with the audio is really impressive even with the standard DVD. You have an incredible up conversion player, and then you can obviously also play the HD DVD's of your choosing. Oh, I know there are only about 325 movies out on HD, but before this is over there will be a lot more. This player is well worth the money, I can't see how anybody would disagree if they have bought one. I feel Toshiba should push the sound quality a little more, as it's really impressive.
