I have spent several years and several hundreds of dollars trying to find a remote to run all of my many audio/video components. I just bought my second R7 in case something happens to my first one. The trick is the "learning" function. As long as you have a working remote to learn from, the R7 will learn any IR command for any device - old or new. The buttons are laid out in a logical pattern. I have memorized the most-used functions and never need to use the backlight. The R7 is a bargain!
