Describe Yourself:
Power User
Primary use:
Business
Best Uses:
Classroomliving Room
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I bought this product knowing I couldn't speak into it and get a translation. However, I expected it to translate more than one word at a time. I bought this for business as I recently took a project that requires me to travel to multiple European, Asian and South American countries. I thought this would be perfect for my meetings and even personal outings. It was anything but useful in real-life situations. Sure, it has 12,000 phrases loaded and categorized, but, really, who thought it would be cool to flip through 12K phrases during a conversation? The device was rendered useless from the moment I stepped off the plane in France and couldn't communicate with an airport employee. The only time it was of any use was when I was in my hotel in Normandy looking through the room service menu. No one is going to speak one word at a time while you punch the word into this device.Oh, and did I mention I paid over [$] for it?

Cons:
Poor Screen, Hard To Read, Can Not Type Own Phrase
Pros:
Works
Best Uses:
Office, Travel
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I bought this device because I am starting to travel internationally. I received the product a few days ago. I am not 100% happy with it. To start, the screen is very hard to read. The contrast setting really does not do anything to hep read the screen. Have to strain my eyes and keep tilting the unit to avoid reflection to read. The backlight is useless too!! Very disappointing!!! There is no capability to enter more than one word at a time. It does have a selection of phrases based on category that can be selected. It does function fine as a translator, just not too easy to read, or manuever back and forth through options. I would give this a 2.5 out of 5.0. I feel that Franklin could have done much better with this product. Why make a translator device that is very difficult to read?If I was able to return it, I would. Definitely not worth the retail price of $[...]. Going to check out the Voyager III.
