The Learning Resources In the Garden Critter Counters have been wonderful addition to our homeschooling manipulative's collection. My son age 3 and my daughter age 6 have been enjoying using these counters during school and play time. These counters are great to use as an aid for teaching about colors, sequencing, patterns building, skip counting, and much more! The set is cute, colorful, and quite kid appealing. The reason I like these counters so much is that they can be used in so many different ways especially for early math skills for children over a span of ages and grade levels. This set of manipulative's has 72 pieces and comes with six different bugs and in six different colors. The colors are orange, blue, green, purple, yellow, and red. The critters include a dragonfly, bee, snail, spider, grasshopper, and a caterpillar. There are two of every color critter. I found these counters very durable and easy to wash after use. There's no weird smell from the material these are made from. If preferred, these can be easily stored in the container they came in. There's an included activity guide for suggestions in how you could use the counters. You can also find the guide on the Learning Resources website. My son really likes using these counters. He's been able to work on sorting and patterns along side of me. I've also given him the opportunity to free play with the counters and he's taken all the little critters on quite the adventures inside the house and outside in our yard. Since he knows about bumble bees, he was taking the bees around to the dandelions in yard and pretending they were pollinating them. His personal favorite critter from the set is the grasshopper. We've done a little bit of nature study, finding books from the library and searching around on the Internet to learn more about each of the critters. So you can use these for early science study too! Overall, this set is of exceptional quality, a hit with the kids, and can be used in so many different ways. Definitely a winner in our household. Highest of recommendations!

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
These In the Garden Critters are absolutely adorable! They are colorful and very well made! My 4 year old uses them for counting, patterns and simple addition. I am also using them with my 1st grader to help teach fractions. The Garden Critters make our math time so much more fun and meaningful. This is a resource that I would highly recommend!
