Much of the shocking leaf spring rear ride can be attributed to the factory vulcanized bushings in the spring and shackle package. The factory shackle is very strong, but the design is not conducive to a smooth ride. This is no surprise as these trucks are not meant to ride well, they are made to tow. Factory blade springs have high spring rate and short travel, why would Ram design a shackle that moves well and is capable of extended suspension travels? Vulcanized bushings are a pressure fitting bushing often used by OEMs where the bushing material is glued to both contact points.
